Birth Trauma Therapy in London | For the birth that left you shaken

If your birth left you shaken

If your birth did not go the way you hoped, and you find yourself replaying it, avoiding reminders of it, or feeling anxious and on edge since, you may be carrying birth trauma. It is real, it is more common than people talk about, and it can be worked through.

What matters is not whether others would call your birth traumatic. What matters is how it left you feeling. Birth trauma is not only about what happened medically. It is about how safe, heard and in control you felt, and what it did to your sense of yourself. Two women can have the same birth on paper and walk away from it completely differently. Yours counts.

You might be living with Flashbacks or vivid memories of the birth. A knot of anxiety you cannot put down. Avoiding hospitals, appointments or conversations about the birth. Feeling disconnected from your baby, your partner or yourself. Dread at the thought of another pregnancy. Guilt for not simply feeling grateful. None of this is a character flaw. It is the mark of an experience that overwhelmed you, and it can ease.

How therapy can help

We make space for what happened, slowly and on your terms. There is no need to relive every detail before you are ready. Over time, the memory loses some of its grip, the anxiety settles, and you begin to feel more like yourself again. My job is to go gently, at your pace, and to stay with you in it.

How I work

I am a BACP-registered integrative therapist specialising in perinatal mental health. I see clients online across the UK and in person in Notting Hill. We start with a free 15-minute call, then a paid first session with no obligation to continue.

Common questions

My birth was not an emergency. Can it still be trauma?

Yes. Birth trauma is about how the experience left you feeling, not how dramatic it looked from the outside. You do not have to justify it.

How long does birth trauma therapy take?

It varies. Some people feel a shift in a handful of sessions, others want longer. We work to your pace, not a fixed timetable.

Will I have to relive the birth?

No. We never rush into the hardest parts. We build safety first, and you stay in control of what we talk about and when.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, across the UK, as well as in person in Notting Hill.

Get in touch to ask a question or enquire about working together. You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out.
